Bates County

Four Rivers C.A.

Located in both Bates an Vernon Counties, the main entrance is in
Vernon County, 15 miles North of Nevada on Hwy 71, 1 mile East
on Hwy TT, then 2.5 miles South on a gravel road marked with a
cantilever sign.  The area has a public contact office and 59 acres
fishable water.  Little Osage River, Marmaton River, Marais Des
Cygnes River and Muddy Creek all run through it, and there are
four ponds and five strip pits.  Designated Natural Areas
Horton Bottoms Natural Area,  227 acres of wet prairie and wet
savannah.  The area also contains an Osage Native American
village site and 2,029 acres of seasonal wetlands.

Harmony Mission Lake C.A.

.75 mile west of Rich Hill on Hwy A and 4.25 miles South West on
Hwy PP.  The pavement on PP ends, and an unnamed county
gravel road continues West about 1 mile to the area.  This 1.080
acre area contains Harmony Mission Lake, which provides anglers
with 96 acres of fishable water.  There is a boat ramp and wheel-

chair accessible fishing jetty.

Old Town Access

3 miles North of Rich Hill on Hwy 71.  Marais Des Cygnes River and
the Bates County Drainage Ditch flow through the area, providing
anglers with 10 acres of fishable water.  There is parking and a
boat ramp.  Natural features of interest include an oxbow lake and
several shallow wetlands. This area is roughly 310 acres.

Peabody C.A.

Roughly 4 miles West of Rich Hill on Hwy A.  This 299 acre area
is dominated by strip pits and spoil banks.  There are 23 acres
of lakes and ponds and two boat ramps.

Settle's Ford C.A.

4 miles West of Creighton on Hwy B and 1 mile South on Index
Road (gravel) in Cass County.  This is 6,611 acres composed 
mainly of wetlands (2,500 acres) and old pastures.  About 822
acres are forestland.  South Grand River flows through the area.

Benton County

Big Buffalo Creek C.A.

North of Edmonson on Hwy W, then turn South on Hwy B, then
east on Hwy WW.  This road ends perpendicular to a gravel road.
Turn left and this gravel road leads to the area.  There are low
water crossings on this road, and they may be impassable during
heavy rains.  This 1,555 acre forested area has one fishing pond
three springs and a 1.5 mile stretch of the Big Buffalo Creek.  
Natural areas of interest include the Big Buffalo Creek Fen (45
acres of calcerous wet meadow, deep muck fen and sedge meadow
shrub fen) and Big Buffalo Bottomland Natural Area, a 5 acre 
mesic bottomland forest.  There are several unmaintained trails
and roads suitable for hiking.

Brickley Hollow Access

1 mile South of Lincoln on Hwy 65, and 8 miles East on Hwy H
to the Hand Hwy W junction.  Continue 1.5 miles to an unmarked
blacktop road and turn right.  Turn right again just past the road
to Henry's Acres.  This is a 186 acre area on the Cole Camp Creek
Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks.  Brickley Creek flows 2 miles 
through the area.

Edmonson Access

1 mile South of Lincoln on Hwy 65, then 7.5 miles East on hwy H,
then turn north on an unnamed gravel road near the Cole Camp 
Creek bridge.  64 acres are forestland consisting of new hardwood
plantations and some riparian corridor.  The rest is old pastures.
.37 mile of Cole Camp Creek flows through the area, and there is
one access (no boat ramp).

Hi Lonesome Prairie C.A.

1 mile West of Cole Camp on hwy 52, then .5 mile North on
County Road NE 221.  This 627 acre area is nearly all unplowed
native prairie.  Five ponds provide anglers with .5 acre of fishable
water.

Mora C.A.

3.5 miles North of Cole Camp on Hwy U.  There is one pond in the
area suitable for fishing (1.7 acres).  Nearly all 320 acres of
surrounding land is cropland, pasture or old fields

Harry S. Truman Reservoir Wildlife Management Lands

Scattered widely throughout Benton, Henry, Hickory and St. Clair
 counties.  These area total 54,511 acres and contain 130 ponds,
10 streams, 10 lakes and five rivers for a total of 250 acres of
fishable water.  There are three caves, several springs and many
miles of unmaintained old roads and fields suitable for hiking.
One natural feature of interest includes a transitional zone where
tallgrass prairie and Ozark forest habitats meet.  Features in this
area include native prairies, glades, savannahs, bluffs and 
wetlands.  Golden Valley Shooting Range lies near the reservoir
in Henry County, 6  miles West of Clinton on Hwy SW 100.  It is
wheelchair accessible.

Amarugia Highlands

7 miles North West of Archie on Route W.  This 1,041 acre area is
home to several ponds and Amarugia Lake.  This lake is 60 acres
and has a boat ramp and wheelchair accessible fishing dock.

North Lake Harrisonville

11 miles South of Lee's Summit on Hwy 291 and .5 mile East on
County Road 235.  This 34 acre lake is suitable for fishing.  It
also has trap shooting and skeet shooting facilities that are 
operated by the city of Harrisonville.

Bunch Hollow C.A.

10 miles North of Carollton on Hwy 65, 7 miles North on Route Z,
and 2 miles West on an unnamed gravel road.  This area is 3,294
acres, has 17 ponds (6 acres for fishing) and a 3 mile horseback
riding trail.

Little Compton Lake C.A.

4 miles South of Hale on Hwy 139, and 3 miles East on Gravel
Road 214.  Little Compton Lake is 40 acres, and the Grand River
also flows through this area.

J.J. McKinney C.A.

On Hwy 41, 1 mile South of the junction of Hwy's 41 and 24.  This
120 acre area is forestland (60 acres), cropland and old pastures.

10 miles West of Carrollton at the junction of routes D and E.  This
241 acre area has seven ponds, providing anglers with 6 acres of
fishable water.

Cooley Lake C.A.

6 miles West of Orrick on Hwy 210.  This 1,227 acre area contains
 Cooley Lake, which is 335 acres, and a 1 mile stretch of the 
Missouri River.  A natural surface hiking trail wanders .5 mile 
through the area, and a migratory waterfowl tour is held every
fall.  There is boat ramp access to the Missouri River.

Henry County

Chapel View Prairie C.A.

2.5 miles West of Deepwater on Hwy 52, 2 miles South on Hwy F,
then .5 mile West of Deepwater on Hwy 52, 2 miles South on Hwy
F, then .5 mile West on County Road SW 1000.  This 384 acre area
is nearly all native prairie, and the western portion is known for
sprouting a diversity of prairie flowers throughout the year.  
There are five ponds providing 2 acres of water suitable for 
fishing.

Farrington Park Lake

1 mile South on County Line Road off Hwy 52 near the town of

Windsor.  Watch for signs leading to the area.  The lake is 15 
acres and is surrounded by about 46 acres of land.  There is a 1 
mile hiking trail and picnic areas.

Connor O. Fewel Wildlife Area

Two tracts.  The main tract is 4 miles North of Lewis on Route AC.
This 320 acre area has three lakes (providing 10 acres of fishable
water) and two springs.

Ladue Bottoms C.A.

Two tracts.  The largest is 1.5 miles East of Ladue on Hwy T, then
.5 mile on County Road SW 501.  This 361 acre area is mainly
cropland and contains a .5 mile stretch of Deepwater Creek.

Montrose C.A.

12 miles West of Clinton on Hwy 18, then 4 miles South on Hwy
RA.  The largest feature on this 2,750 acre area is Montrose Lake.
The lake is about 1,600 acres and has three boat ramps.  A 3 mile
hiking trail winds through part of the area.

On Hwy 7, miles West of Clinton.  There are 14 lakes on this 879
acre area, providing anglers with 89 acres of fishable water.

Cross Timbers Access

2 miles North of the junction of Hwy's 54 and B, 5.5 miles East on
Hwy Y (until the pavement ends), then .75 mile south on the
gravel road.  This 44 acre area has a boat ramp on Pomme de
Terre River.

Mule Shoe C.A.

2.5 miles East of Preston on Hwy 54, then turn  on Hwy F and 
go 3.25 miles, then East on County Road F.  The area lies just
beyond the low water bridge over the Little Niangua River.  A 2.7
mile stretch of the Little Niangua flows through the area, and
there are four hiking trails .75 to 3 miles in length over old road
and dirt surfaces

John F. Murphy Memorial State Forest

and Wildlife Area

On the North side of Hwy 54, .75 mile East of Wheatland.  This
325 acre area is nearly all forestland (285 acres) and has four
caves and two springs.  Five trails wind through the area.

Pomme de Terre Reservoir

Several tract lie around this reservoir which is 4,019 acres.  The
larges accessible tract is 3 miles east of Elkton on Route H, then 1
mile North on an unnamed gravel road.  The Corps of Engineers
manages adjacent land that offers a variety of facilities to boaters,
