The Refuge |

One of four national wildlife refuges in Missouri. Established in |

|
1935 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as a resting and feeding |
|||||

area for migratory birds and other wildlife. This 7,178 acre refuge |

a open marsh, flooded timber, cordgrass prairie, and forest. 321 |
||||
|
species of birds have been identified here so far. The refuge is |
|||||
|
open from sunrise to sunset. |
