Bennett Spring State Park (map)

More than 100 million gallons of water gushes daily from Missouri's

third largest spring.  The bubbling, emerald colored pool feeds a

stream that runs through the 3,100 acre park.  The stream is

stocked daily during the March 1- October 31 trout season by the

Missouri Department of Conservation, and provides excellent fishing

for rainbow trout.  Canoeing is popular on the Niangua River, which

borders the park.  One of the state's oldest and most popular parks.

This park offers a nature center, swimming pool, dining lodge,

rental cabins and many campsites.

Grand Gulf State Park (map)

Often called the Little Grand Canyon, this park was created when the

ceiling of a giant cave collapsed.  A bit of remaining roof forms one

of the largest natural bridges in Missouri.  The gulf winds for a mile

through vertical walls as high as 120 feet.  The day use park offers

picnic areas, trails and several scenic overlooks

Montauk State Park (map)

The headwaters of the renowned Current River are generated when

tiny Pigeon Creek merges with the approximately 40 million gallons

of cold spring water emanating daily from the Montauk Springs.  The

1,356 acre park was developed around the springs associated spring

branch and provides a popular spot for trout fishing.  The initial 3.5

miles section of stream within the park is stocked daily with rainbow

trout from March 1- October 31.  An old gristmill and Ozark Valley

provide and inviting setting for campgrounds and rustic rental

cabins.  A modern lodge provides convenient accommodations

includes sleeping rooms, restaurant and store, even during the

winter months.  A meeting room near the lodge makes the park a

popular spot for small conferences retreats and seminars.
