Named by the Indians, it is a convenient getaway for |

the St. Louis Metropolitan area. The regions above |

Fenton should only be used with john boats or canoes |

The main boating corridor is from George Winter Park |
|||||

to the mouth of the Mississippi river. The George |
|||||
|
Winter area is dredged and accommodates boating |
|||||
|
through most of the year. This river does get very |
|||||
|
shallow and one must take caution with gravel |
|||||
|
bars and underwater hazards. Sometimes especially |
|||||
|
during august the river can be extremely low and not |
|||||
|
navigable. When heavy rains do occur, this section of |
|||||
|
the river can turn into a very nice place to boat. One |
|||||

can see many boaters on this section of the |

river during these times enjoying themselves skiing, |
||||
| taking pleasure cruises and using their pwc's. Boat | |||||
| ramps can be found at George Winter Park in Fenton | |||||
| and Flamm City Access in Arnold. | |||||
