2010 Spring Turkey Season Reynold County Missouri
Story
This years turkey season was very tough for me. The birds were with the hens the whole season. The toms would gobble back and move a little closer but would never really leave their comfort zone. This might have been because of how green it was this year. The first week i got to work a couple birds but to no prevail. The second week was better but the birds seemed to gobble back and then shut up and move off with the hens. The third week the birds were still hot ,but would not come in to my calls. The second to last day of the season it was windy early in the morning. While walking a logging road i heard a lonely tom. He was hot and sounded like he was alone. I moved in on him by using the wind in my favor. It seemed to take forever to get close to him, waiting for the wind to pick up. I finely was close enough to get set up. I decided not to use my turkey calls but instead scratch in the leaves like a hen feeding. It wasn't 10 seconds and i finely had a bird down. My tom ended up with a 21lbs.with a10in.beard and had 1-1/4 spurs. If you had a tough season or ended up killing a bird let us hear about it. Thanks Moboy
